Many GRAIN HOME products are handmade or hand-finished by skilled artisans. The final appearance of a product can vary slightly from piece to piece due to the material, production method, firing, glazing, painting, finishing and other stages of the making process.

Small imperfections, irregularities and variations are often characteristics of the product rather than defects.

These differences are part of what makes handmade products individual and unique.

2 Natural Variations

Products made from natural or handmade materials may have variations in:

• Weight
• Pattern placement
• Surface finish
• Grain or markings

These variations cannot always be completely controlled and should be expected when purchasing handmade or naturally made products.

3 Ceramic & Porcelain

Ceramic and porcelain products may have minor variations resulting from the making and firing process.

You may notice small differences in glaze, colour, texture, speckles, brushwork, edges, thickness or surface finish. Tiny pinholes, slight unevenness, natural marks or variations in glaze application may also occur.

No two handmade pieces are expected to be perfectly identical.

4 Terracotta & Earthenware

Terracotta and other earthenware products are made from naturally occurring clay and are naturally porous.

Variations in colour, texture, shape and surface finish may occur. You may also notice natural marks, slight roughness, unevenness, small variations in the surface or differences caused during firing.

These characteristics contribute to the natural, earthy appearance of the material.

5 Wood

Wood is a natural material, and every piece has its own grain and character.

Wooden products may naturally contain variations in:

As many of our products are handmade, there may be slight differences in dimensions, proportions, weight or shape between individual pieces.
